What is TESOL?

TESOL is an acronym - English is a lecturer for other languages. English is the most widely used and most common second language in the world. It is the language used for global business, trade, research and technology, and the Internet, which means that learning to speak English is necessary for non-English speaking people so that they can find a good job, do business, travel, study abroad and make full use of the Internet.

Why study TESOL?

With the increasing global demand, the demand for TESOL teachers is increasing and growing. In fact, native speakers and non-native speakers of English have been working in Asia, Europe, South America and the Middle East, almost all over the world in non-English speaking countries.

Teaching your mother tongue to others is a useful experience with both economic and personal experience. By teaching English as a second language (ESL), you can travel to exotic countries, learn about new and exciting cultures, make new international friends, change your lifestyle, and so on.

How many people in the world learn English?

More than 1.75 billion people around the world are learning English as a second language (according to the British Council), which will increase to more than 2 billion by 2020.

Online English courses in China alone are a $4.5 billion industry. By 2019, they are expected to grow by more than 20% annually to $7.8 billion, and the value of the entire online education sector in the country will reach $41 billion.

But that's not all. South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Europe, South America and the Middle East all have a demand for TESOL certified teachers.

How many certified TESOL teachers are required?

More than 100,000 new TESOL teaching positions are opened every year, and the lack of certified English teachers is one of the biggest challenges facing educators and learners worldwide.

But this is only the beginning, because it does not take into account the impact of English on the Internet.

More than 80% of the world's electronic storage information is in English, and 51.2% of the world's 10 million websites use other languages to dwarf the network.

The growth of the Internet in middle-income countries is developing "billions" of potential new English learners as second language learners, which will mean a dramatic increase in the demand for certified online English teachers. The global demand for overseas and online certified English teachers is almost insufficient.

If you are native English speaker or fluent non-native speaker, you can also be part of this exciting, incredibly fast-growing global industry.

How can I become part of this exciting industry?

You need to sign a TESOL certificate and learn how to teach learners of all ages and levels.

Completing the TESOL certificate will provide you with knowledge, skills, certification and work experience, and become an on-demand TESOL teacher.
